Limited release pre-prohibition style lager by Wisconsin Brewing Company to be available at The Greatest War

Traitor State Lager
Pre-Prohibition style brew from Wisconsin Brewing Company that celebrates the Badger State’s German heritage and history of dissent. Based on a Schlitz Brewing Company formula from 1911, this is the type of beer that Wisconsinites would’ve raised to celebrate the Armistice or remember lost comrades from World War One.

This limited release beer will be available at The Greatest War performance on November 11, 7:30pm at The Wisconsin Union Theater Shannon Hall. Taps open in the Sunset Lounge in the Memorial Union at 6:30pm.

About “The Traitor State”
Days before the U.S. declared war, there were referendums around Wisconsin asking if citizens supported a declaration of war. The answer was a resounding “no.” One senator (Bob LaFollette) and 9 of 11 representatives voted against the declaration of war, and shortly thereafter Wisconsin got the nickname “The Traitor State.”

The Kissers play a song of the same name in the show. Much of the inspiration came from a great lecture by Leslie Bellais.

Here’s a video of Ken, Kevin, and Bryan from The Kissers playing The Traitor State live on WORT 89.9 FM.
